Best Modern Menorahs: Quirky, Cute, and Timeless Designs for Hanukkah (and Beyond)
As the holiday season approaches, it’s time to think about the perfect menorah to light up your Hanukkah celebrations. But why stop there? My collection of modern menorahs is designed not only to bring warmth and light to your Hanukkah nights but to keep adding beauty and charm to your home long after the candles have burned out. These quirky, cute menorahs will sit proudly on your counter, mantle, or dining table, bringing a touch of whimsy and grace year-round.
Let me introduce you to the three menorahs I’ve designed, each crafted with love, attention to detail, and a spirit of fun that celebrates the magic of the season—and beyond.
1. The Slice of Cake Menorah
Sweet and delightful, the Slice of Cake Menorah is a whimsical take on a holiday classic. Inspired by the joy of celebration, this piece features a charming slice of cake with candle holders on top. Imagine it sparkling with nine candles as it graces your table for Hanukkah. After the festivities, this piece makes a fabulous candelabra for dinner parties or Sunday brunch, bringing an extra dash of fun to any occasion.
Cake Menorah
This handmade ceramic cake sculpture can be used as a menorah or a fun candelabra!
Each piece is lovingly made by hand, with delicate blush-pink "frosting" and bright red "cherries" that cleverly pop off to reveal hidden spaces for your candles. The tactile details and smooth ceramic finish make it as much a pleasure to hold as it is to display. Whether it’s glowing with candles during Hanukkah or sitting on a shelf as a cheerful sculpture, this menorah brings a sweet, playful spirit to your home.
Each piece comes with removable metal candle cups that nestle into the hidden holes. These make wax cleanup easy and help protect the ceramic over time. I recommend using Stick-Um candle tack (or a similar adhesive) to secure both the metal cups and the candles when in use.
Designed to be both functional and decorative, this menorah is more than a holiday centerpiece—it’s a symbol of celebration, creativity, and the small joys that brighten our everyday lives.
Note: These are all handmade art pieces, so slight variations are to be expected and celebrated.
Caution: Lighting a menorah with fire is at your own risk. Place your menorah on a heat-resistant, non-flammable surface. Never leave lit candles unattended.
Menorah: The center icing piece is attached to the cake and allows for the shamash candle to have a higher placement than the others. The remaining eight candles are placed directly into the holes carved into the cake, and the icing pieces that cover these holes lift off to reveal them.
2. The Bow Menorah
Elegant and playful, the Bow Menorah comes in two beautiful, opalescent colors—white and blue—that shimmer as they catch the light. Whether you choose the soft glow of the white or the cool calm of the blue, both options exude a delicate charm that’s perfect for the holiday season. Once Hanukkah is over, this menorah easily transforms into a statement candelabra for the rest of the year. Picture it sitting on your mantle or adding a graceful touch to your dining table, with a caprese salad and a baguette for a summery soirée.
This stoneware menorah features an opalescent bow that couldn’t be more magical. The shiny, pearly glaze makes it the perfect menorah to celebrate timeless traditions—and then continue to adorn your shelf year-round with beautiful cheer. For best fit, light with 3/8" taper candles.
New this year: I’ve added the Menorah Tray—a serving platter you can use all year long and the perfect heat-resistant surface to pair with your menorah. The trays are Pre-Order and take 10-12 weeks to create. You can also customize them with a name or phrase. To do so, choose the “Custom Tray” option and email me your inscription.
Details:
Metal candle holders that fit the holes are included. They are not glued in—this allows for easy cleanup of any candle drips. I recommend using Stick-Um candle tack to keep the holders and candles in place for easier lighting and cleanup. If you’d prefer the candle cups to be adhered permanently, I can do this for an additional cost. Please email catherine@rexdesign.co to arrange.
Materials:
Stoneware with a luster glaze (which gives the piece its rainbow-like, extra shiny, pearly effect).
Caution:
Lighting a menorah with fire is your own responsibility. Place your menorah on a heat-resistant, non-flammable surface. Never leave lit candles unattended, and avoid letting the flame touch the ceramic surface for a prolonged period.
3. The Tulip Bouquet Menorah
For a menorah that feels fresh and full of life, the Tulip Bouquet Menorah is the perfect choice. Its elegant, floral design captures the essence of nature’s beauty, making it a perfect centerpiece for Hanukkah. But just like the other pieces in this collection, it doubles as a candelabra after the festival, effortlessly adding a touch of natural elegance to any room.
Open for Pre-order! I am currently working on handmaking a limited batch of these. They will ship the first week of December. (sooner if possible)
This stoneware menorah offers a fun tulip bouquet that can become part of your timeless tradition and continue to adorn your shelf year round with beautiful cheer. For best fit, light with 3/8" taper candles.
Caution: Lighting a menorah with fire is on your own responsibility. Place your menorah on a heat-resistant, non-flammable surface. Never leave lit candles unattended.
